An astonishing stop for our Balcan trip by caravan: Plitvice Lakes, Croatia.
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is a paradise for hikers, walkers and nature lovers. With lovely, cool lakes, over 120 different bird species, beautiful waterfalls among other scenic attractions, it is definitely a place to visit.
This is the largest National Park of Croatia, and is without any doubt one of the most beautiful National Parks in Europe. The area consists of cascades of sixteen crystal clear, turquoise lakes, waterfalls, canyons and gorges.
The Plitvice Lakes National Park lies in the Plitvice plateau which is surrounded by three mountains, part of the Dinaric Alps: Plješevica mountain (Gornja Plješevica peak 1,640 m), Mala Kapela mountain (Seliški Vrh peak at 1,280 m), and Medveđak (884 m).
